“When we moved into our house, we had a large space above the fireplace that was framed in a way that it was specifically made for a special piece of art. For months I struggled to find something large enough to command the space that would be fitting for such a prominent place in the room and simultaneously spoke to us on a personal level. After a number of months of unsuccessful searching, I finally had the idea to have a sentimental photograph turned into a large painting.

We chose a photo I had taken on our honeymoon on the Turquoise Coast in southern Turkey where as we drove along the coastline, we looked over the side of a cliff and saw people on a beautiful beach by the most vivid blue water and it looked like a painting right in front of our eyes.

Cory brought that image to life for us exactly as we saw it that day- he was sensitive to keeping the image as close to the photo as possible while suggesting we cut the left part of the photograph that was overexposed in the camera out to help make the detailed parts of the image on the right larger (the painting is 3’x3’.) This was definitely something only an artist would have the foresight to do for us instead of simply translating the photo onto the canvas as it was.

Cory was easy to work with and patient knowing it would be a special memento for us. Since he understood our vision so easily, we had minimal need for discussion and the painting was done sooner than we expected for such a piece.

I had tears in my eyes when I opened it and was instantly taken back to that special moment on the side of the cliff- Cory had even taken the time to put in each tiny footprint that was captured on the photo and we couldn’t have been happier with it. We never imagined we could have such a special memory made into a work of art that we will always be able to treasure and bring back memories every time we look at it. We look forward to choosing another photo from our travels to be transformed into another beautiful piece of art by Cory!”
